Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

I just finished reading Pride and Prejudice yesterday and i am still awestruck with the way Austen has shown how a person's feelings can be changed with reason and time. This is the predecessor for all the romantic movies we see now. Imitation is the best form of flattery and Austen has been flattered everyday because of this book. One can see the same story in Soaps, movies, run of the 'mill' romantic books ( if you know what i am talking about).
Every one knows the story of the Rich man and the poor-talented- intelligent girl. Please turn away from this book if this is not a theme you can stand. But read the book if you are open to the joys of seeing characters grow and fall in writing.
Her central characters Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy have beautifully drawn out personalities and Austen builds their character as the story moves on. The novel initially takes off at Elizabeth's household and if one has not read the reviews of the book before picking it up, one can never guess that the theme is the love blossoming between Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy till we move ahead many sections. I do not find Austen very descriptive over the surroundings of the characters or the places they move on to. But there are no two characters who are alike and that is the strong point of the novel. I judge it to be a novel which may find partiality among women compared to men.
Overall a good book to curl up to with a open mind to read a story that has been told a million times , but this will be its most original form.
